About Our Temple
The Arulmigu Sri Subramaniarn Temple, located in Kerling, Selangor, has a history dating back to 1920 when the Kerling region had just nine Indian households. The decision to establish the temple was prompted by an incident where Mr. Kuppusamy Nayakar placed a trident (Sulam) under a tree during heavy rainfall, inspiring all nine families to collectively decide on building a temple. Over the years, the temple has undergone various modifications since the inception of the neighborhood. Situated along Kerling Road, the temple's land was successfully acquired by the temple committee. In the Kerling area, which has a substantial Hindu population, the temple is well-known. Its strategic location by the roadside attracts worshippers who can conveniently engage in prayer ceremonies. In 1978, an unfortunate incident occurred where some individuals damaged the statue of God. Despite this, the vigilant priest promptly informed the temple committee, leading to security measures being implemented that evening to safeguard the temple. This incident, referred to as "Surasamaram," underscores the resilience of Hinduism. The Kerling temple has been given a new name, Thiruchentur temple, further solidifying its significance.
