About Our Temple
During the 1890s, Tamils engaged in plantation work on Machap's Ladang Durian Tunggal farm. Mr. Chinna Kannu and Mr. Kandasamy initiated the worship of Maha Karumariamman with a trident (Soolam). Subsequently, the Tamil community residing in the park commenced the worship of Sri Maha Karumariamman within a small shed. In 2015, the temple underwent renovation under new management. In 2019, a significant addition was made to the temple premises with the installation of a 31-foot-tall black idol of Karumariamman. Kumbabhishekam ceremonies have been a tradition since 1980, and after a span of about 40 years, the festival and Kumbabhishekam were conducted for the second time in 2019. The temple has been official registration, and regular rituals are observed. Although the Tamils who previously worked in the area have relocated to the suburbs, they continue to actively participate in special festivals. The temple management is currently in collaboration with landowners and the Malacca state government to acquire land for the temple's expansion.
