About Our Temple
In 1905, a group comprising JKR employees and hospital staff constructed the Sri Maha Mariamman temple by installing a trident, dedicating the worship to Lord Muniswarar as the guardian deity. In 1971, Mr. Satasivam, then the temple's leader, brought the statue of Ambal from Tamilnadu, India. The inaugural Kumbabhisegam was successfully conducted, marking the proper establishment of the temple. The temple was actively used for pooja ceremonies until 1984 when the Tamil community in the vicinity relocated, leaving the temple unattended. Mr. Arumugam assumed leadership of the temple in 2000, making modifications and reinstating pooja ceremonies. After a lapse of 44 years, the second Kumbabhisegam was conducted in 2015. This temple is now officially registered under ROS.
