About Our Temple
In the 1800s, laborers from India and Sri Lanka, brought in during the British colonial era, collaborated to construct this temple. They erected a small hut and commenced prayers with a spear (Vel). The foreman, Mr. Narayanan, is credited as the founder, and another foreman, Mr. Kaasi, played a key role in bringing the statue of Goddess Amman from India. Subsequently, with the support of the community, the temple celebrated its inaugural Kumbhabishegam. The temple faced destruction in 1967 but was later reconstructed using cement. Financial contributions from workers at Guthrie Factory and Siliau Farm played a crucial role in the temple's renovation projects. Following these efforts, the temple hosted grand celebrations for Kumbhabishegams in 1969, 1992, and 2007.
