About Our Temple
In 1872, the Mahamariyamman Temple was constructed. During that period, Tamils were called to work from India to clear forests and cultivate lands. In those times, as a measure of protection, they established a small trident (Soolam) representing Muniswaran and Mariamman at the entrance, designating it as the guardian deity. Following this, People who worked in rubber plantations continued the tradition by placing a modest altar in rubber estates, offering prayers and starting their work. Over time, Tamils migrated to various regions, and subsequent generations continued the tradition of establishing Mariamman temples with the support of agricultural laborers and the guidance of the temple management. In 2012, the temple was officially registered, and currently, all ceremonies are conducted with great reverence.
