About Our Temple
The Sri Maha Mariamman Temple was established around 100 years ago by Tamil individuals who lived and worked in the tea plantation areas of Shum Yip Leong. The People engaged in plantation work worshiped Goddess Mariamman as their guardian deity. Initially, they placed a trident (sulam) and built a small wooden hut with zinc roof as a temple. In the later years, with the efforts of Mr. Govindasamy, the temple underwent significant improvements and renovations. The first consecration ceremony, known as Kumbabishekam, was performed with great significance. Currently, the temple is actively engaged in various rituals, and all worship services are conducted with special attention. The devotees gather during special prayers and festivals to seek the blessings of Goddess Mariamman. The temple is now well-established and functions smoothly with regular rituals and ceremonies.
