About Our Temple
Situated in Bukit Talang, Kampung Baru, Kuala Selangor, the Sri Maha Mariamman Temple was built in 1958 by the local residents of the estate. In 2021, the temple marked its third Kumbabisyegam celebration. Annually, in the month of May, devotees fulfill their vows by carrying milk pots, on the festival day. This occasion also includes the ceremony walking on the fire (Theemithi) and a nighttime chariot procession. Originally, there were three estates in the vicinity, each with its own distinct temple. However, due to a British directive, the temples were relocated, and the three Moolasthanams, along with the deity's statue, were consolidated in the present temple.
