About Our Temple

The Sri Maha Mariamman Temple is located in Tangkak, within the Ladang Tanah Merah estate, under the Payamas division. This temple was established in 1886 by workers employed in the plantation sector. It is one of the oldest Hindu temples in the Tangkak area. The trident (spear) found in the temple bears the year 1886, which is considered evidence that the temple was likely established that same year. In its early days, worship was carried out in a small hut made of wooden planks, centered around a trident and a small stone. After the 1960s, the temple management took steps to properly maintain and renovate the temple. At present, the temple is formally registered, and all poojas and festivals are conducted in a grand and orderly manner. The temple administration is also actively involved in various community service activities.
