About Our Temple

About 150 years ago, the Sri Maha Mariamman Temple was established by Tamil People. In the 1980s, when Tamils were called to work in plantations, many faced health issues due to the prevailing climatic conditions in the estates. Struggling with these challenges, the affected People decided to establish a guardian deity in their region. Mr. Nagulan took the initiative and installed a small idol of Lord Muniswaran and Goddess Mariyamman, designating them as the guardian deities. Following the approval of the local administration, a small temple for Sri Maha Mariamman was constructed, and since then, devotees have been worshiping there. The estate was eventually sold, and the People moved to urban areas. Despite the changes in residence, significant religious ceremonies and festivals continue to take place in the temple, maintaining its cultural and spiritual significance in the community.
