About Our Temple
The Sri Maha Kaliyamman Temple in Bukit Koman, Raub, Pahang is more than 100 years old. In the 1900s, due to work opportunities in the Sungai Siput, Raub gold mines, Tamils were brought in by the British from various parts of India, including areas like Kerala. The Indian workers, employed in the Sungai Siput, revered deities such as Kaliyamman, Thangal Amman, Muthapan, Muniswarar, and Munyandi as their guardian deities. While there is limited information available on the precise historical details, it is known that the temple was originally established in the Sungai Siput gold mines. The Indian community who worked there worshiped various deities and established the temple to continue their religious practices. In 2000, the temple underwent a relocation when it was transferred to a property owned by the Ladang Raub Mining Development Corporation. Some of the workers who previously worked in the Sungai Siput mines moved to urban areas, resulting in the temple now primarily hosting special pujas and festivals with the permission of the Sungai Siput administration.
