About Our Temple
A century ago, the Tamil community residing in the Slim River area revered the statue of Lord Muneeswaran beneath a tree as their protective deity. The temple fell into disuse for an extended period until restoration efforts led by Mr. Kalyana Sundaram, Mr. Subramaniam, and Mr Michael took place between 1940 and 1965. Subsequently, in 1968, the foundation stone was laid, initiating temple construction under the guidance of Mr. Arumugam. The project was completed in 1969 and marked by the Kumbabishekam (consecration) ceremony. To fund further expansions, resources were generated through the screening of Tamil films. In 1971, an Utsava Murthy was brought from Tamil Nadu, and owing to the enthusiasm and dedication of the youth, the temple land was officially transferred and registered as Sri Mahalakshmi Temple. The management's commendable efforts have transformed the temple into a grand structure, highlighted by a 5-story Raja Gopuram.
