About Our Temple
The Murugan Temple is located in Kluang, and it is dedicated to the devotees of Lord Muruga. The temple was established 75 years ago. Before the construction of the temple, in 1945, the KTM Singakalis (Cylonese) workers build a small shrine with wooden planks and zinc roof. In 1960, during the military takeover, the Murugan Temple Committee was formed. In the beginning of 1986, due to the increased number of devotees, the temple committee decided to rebuild the Murugan Temple to accommodate a larger congregation. With the support of the state government and the local community in Ulu Tiram, the temple tower (gopuram) was constructed. The consecration ceremony took place on March 19, 1995. The temple features statues of Hanuman, Idumban, and Mahalechumi, among others. In 2017, the Ulu Tiram Municipal Council and the Johor State Government allocated land to expand the Hindu temple premises. The temple administration is taking various measures to improve the services and facilities for devotees, and the financial support of the community is contributing to the success of these efforts.
