About Our Temple
Established in 1914 by the Tamil community residing in the Vartipan Rubber Plantation, situated 5 miles from Kuala Lumpur, the Sri Aiyanareeswarar Temple has a rich history. In 1952, a temple bell was discovered 200 meters from the temple, bearing the inscription 1883 I.K. The temple remained unoccupied during World War II until the Sinhalese army worshipped the Buddha statue and the Gurkha army worshipped Kali in 1945. The temple faced destruction in 1952, and over time, wild bushes and trees engulfed the site, concealing it. The temple's gopuram had vanished before 1952 and remained undiscovered. Between 1974 and 1975, the temple underwent a temporary closure due to the expulsion of Mr. Krishnan, the temple's archagar. It was reopened in 1976 by Datuk Mahalingam. In 1986, a land dispute concerning the temple emerged, and Datuk Samivelu played a crucial role in successfully resolving the issue. The Vairavar thiruvila was celebrated in 1987. Initiatives to construct a new temple commenced in 2000, and after restoration, the Maha Kumbabhishekam took place on November 3, 2006. The most recent Maha Kumbabhishekam occurred on June 6, 2019, marking a significant event in the temple's ongoing history.
