About Our Temple

In 1902, the inception of the Sri Kandaswamy Temple took place under the name Sri Murugan Swamy Temple. Initially, the worship centered around a spear (Vel), with daily poojas conducted. The completion of the Sri Kandasamy Temple occurred in 1909, marked by its first Kumbabhishekam. In 1933, a new Vel and yantra were crafted, and a Maha Kumbabhishekam was conducted. A significant addition came in 1939 when a temple bell was acquired from London. The installation of a Lord Ganesha idol took place in 1949, followed by another Maha Kumbabhishekam. Subsequent enhancements included the restoration of the Moolasthanam, the construction of the Vasantha Mandapam hall, and the establishment of the Vairavar Sannati, all culminating in a Maha Kumbabhishekam in 1978. Recognizing the temple's age, the administration embarked on the construction of a new temple. The current Sri Kandaswamy Temple was erected at a cost of RM 445,026 ringgit, with its Maha Kumbabhishekam held on 24th March, 1997. The 80th-anniversary celebration took place on 2nd January, 2009, and the centennial milestone was commemorated with a grand celebration featuring 1009 Kalasa Abhishekam. The festivities continued, concluding with a joyous Maha Kumbabhishekam on 27th, 2023, marking a festive and significant moment in the temple's history.
