About Our Temple
Established in 1880, the Sri Maha Muneeswaran temple had humble beginnings, with a small spear (Vel) placed under a tree along the riverbank. Over time, it has evolved into a significant and expansive temple. Mr. Vigneswaran was the initial founder of this temple. In 2002, due to the construction of a railway bridge on the existing temple site, the Malaysian government allocated a new site for the temple. The foundation stone for the new temple was laid in 2004, with Tun Sami Velu providing a grant for its construction. Distinct towers were constructed for the worship of Goddess Kaliamman, Durgai Amman, and Nagammal within the temple premises. The temple houses idols that have been part of its history for more than 150 years. An elaborate celebration takes place on Shivratri at this temple. The temple administration anticipates its full completion in the coming months, culminating in the performance of the Kumbabhishekam ceremony.
