About Our Temple
In 1920, the Tamil community was employed as agricultural laborers on the tea plantations of Tanah Rata in Cameron Highlands. In the vicinity of these plantations, they revered Mariamman, Murugan, and Muniswaran as their protective deities. Subsequently, the land was sold to new owners, prompting the estate workers to relocate elsewhere. Carrying their guardian deity with them, they installed a statue of the deity in their new living quarters. Seeking approval from the government, they applied for a designated piece of land to construct a temple. The government granted the request, and they established a temple dedicated to Goddess Sri Maha Mariamman. The temple underwent official registration under the Registrar of Societies (ROS), and the religious ceremonies (pooja) are now conducted in accordance with proper protocols.
